About this site

wordcraft.run is an independent site that hosts the open-source WordCraft word processor so it can be used in a browser without installing anything.

The editor

WordCraft is made by the ArtCraft team and contributors and published at github.com/storytold/wordcraft. It is dual-licensed under the MIT License or the Apache License 2.0, at your option. Copyright © 2026 ArtCraft Team and the WordCraft contributors.

This site serves the web build from each GitHub release without modification. The current build is v0.5.0; its zip matched the release’s published SHA-256 checksum (196d0070fec6572238298e211ac4a3ea0510b7a0ac8d6096a5ee59f2ff69f85d). Every file is served byte for byte as it is in that zip. The only things left out are the sample header files for other web servers (_headers, .htaccess).

The app’s WebAssembly file is 34.6 MB, larger than the limit for a single static file on our host, so it is stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage and streamed from there, with the same bytes and the same name. The app’s own page preloads it with a Subresource Integrity hash, which you can compare with the file.

The licence texts ship with the build: LICENSE-MIT and LICENSE-APACHE. The project lists every bundled asset with its author and licence in ATTRIBUTION.md and the required notices in NOTICE. The spelling dictionary and hyphenation come from Grady Ward’s public-domain Moby word list.

Fonts built into the app are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1: Source Serif 4, Source Sans 3, Inter and JetBrains Mono, plus faces from ArtCraft’s craft-fonts collection, whose licences ship with the build: BIZ UDPGothic, BIZ UDMincho, Shippori Mincho, Noto Sans CJK SC and Noto Sans Arabic.
